DAYTIME EVENTS - Thursday 24 February 2007

Vocal Workshops
11am - 12.30pm & 1.30 - 3pm
Venue: Floral Hall
A fun, participatory workshop looking at a variety of vocal traditions from all over the world, exploring how singers from different continents produce different sounds. The workshops will focus particularly on the vocal styles of the artists involved in the Voices Across the World series. No experience of singing is necessary, just a willingness to take part.

An Introduction to the English Folk Tradition
11.15am - 12.30pm
Venue: Crush Room
Accordionist Karen Tweed gives a practical introduction to the English folk tradition, using live demonstration and recorded examples. You can even have a go!

Cultural Connections - From Brasov to Budapest
1.30 - 3pm
Venue: Crush Room
Dr Peter Mills, Senior Lecturer in Media and Popular Culture at Leeds Metropolitan University will look at the links between Hungarian, Transylvanian and Roma music including films of performances of the above including Muzsicas.
