Hello folks,Well it’s been quite a while since my last newsletter. The past few months have been a busy mix of touring in the UK and USA alongside preparation for the launch of my new album ‘Too Long Away’ which will be released here in the UK on the 21st April 2008.
Hello folks,
Well it’s been quite a while since my last newsletter. The past few months have been a busy mix of touring in the UK and USA alongside preparation for the launch of my new album ‘Too Long Away’ which will be released here in the UK on the 21st April 2008.
In February Jamie and I did a duo tour around some of the English clubs which we really enjoyed. It saw me make debut appearances at several venues including my first trip over to the Isle of Wight. In March we did some band gigs - a sell out show in Otley Court House in Yorkshire and a first visit to the excellent ‘The Buccleuch Centre, in Langholm, Dumfriesshire.
Soon after we headed over for my third US tour which saw us travel through Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia over ten days.
Back home now though and I’m really excited about the album’s release and getting in the mood for writing and getting back in the garden, that’s if the wintry showers ever blow away….

Iain Anderson’s Album of the Week
I’m delighted to let you know that ‘Too Long Away’ will be album of the week on Iain Anderson’s show on BBC Radio Scotland in a couple of weeks time.

Home Town Album Launch
To mark the release of the new album I will be holding a launch concert in my old school - Wallace Hall Academy, Thornhill – on Saturday 26th April. This is the third time I have performed a Thornhill show and it’s looking to be a great night with the full band. To start us off we have local young musicians David Kennedy on accordion and singer Emma Ackland.
Songs of Praise this Sunday
In October 2007 Jamie and I were involved in recording 2 songs for BBC One’s programme ‘Songs of Praise’. The first song was aired last year and this coming Sunday’s episode (20th April) will feature the second song. The episode will be presented by Sally Magnusson and will feature various landmarks in Edinburgh. Look out for some footage of Jamie and I pretending to be tourists on The Royal Mile…..I haven’t seen it myself but I’m sure there will be plenty of cheesy smiles!
The programme will be shown on BBC One at 5.30pm.
Or you can always watch it at your leisure through the BBC’s iplayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/
In store Appearance
If you can’t make the launch gig then here’s some advance notice that I’ll be doing an in-store appearance in Coda Music/Mound Music in Edinburgh on Saturday 31st May. I’ll be playing some songs live in store and generally be up for a blether with some celebratory!
Short Film
If you haven’t already, please check out the short film on my site which was made about my music, background and influences. The film features footage of my home region in Scotland and shows the landscape on a very dreich misty day back in February. Also now online is footage of some of the songs I performed at my Celtic Connections gig earlier this year.

I have a mixture of duo gigs with Jamie McClennan as well as some full band gigs coming up over the next few weeks. Full details are listed to the left hand side.
I’ll leave you for now with warm spring wishes.
Hope to see you all soon!
