Emily Smith - Newletter December 2007

Hello Folks! Hope you’re enjoying the festive season and looking forward to Christmas wherever you may be. 2007 has been a year filled with visits to new places and I can honestly say I’ve had a great time throughout.

Hello Folks! Hope you’re enjoying the festive season and looking forward to Christmas wherever you may be.  2007 has been a year filled with visits to new places and I can honestly say I’ve had a great time throughout.  Touring wise, the Germany tour was a real fun start to the year and quickly followed by the showcase concerts I did at the Folk Alliance in Memphis, USA.   All in all I’ve crossed the pond 4 times and back over the last 12 months and met some lovely people along the way.  A highlight for me was the trip to Moab, Utah as it was so unlike anywhere or anything I had ever seen before.

On the recording front, my third album is complete and I’m looking forward to its release in 2008 and getting it out into the world.  More info on this in January.

January 2008 sees us into another Celtic Connections festival, which for anyone who hasn’t been before is a three week long festival in Glasgow jam packed with fantastic music and late nights!  I have three performances at 2008’s festival to look forward to (details on the left).

But before that myself and the band will head across to New York on the 11th January to perform in three showcase spots at APAP (Association of performing Arts Presenters) Conference 2008.  I’m one of the lucky few to have been given support by the Scottish Arts Council to attend the conference and am excited not only about showcasing my music at the conference but also to be visiting New York city for the first time.

Thanks to all of you who have sent Jamie and I Christmas wishes and also emails throughout the year, it’s great to know that people are out there reading and enjoying these newsletters.  Thanks to everyone for buying my music and for coming along to hear us at live events.  Thanks also to the agents and promoters who take a chance and have faith in my music by booking me.  Without you all I’d be out of a job!

I’ll be back in touch in the New Year but for now I’ll leave you with warm wishes for a peaceful, restful Christmas time.

Emily x
